This is a quirky, touching film about a lonely, aging German accordionist who is rejuvenated by his discovery of Cajun zydeco music, and who makes a pilgrimage to Louisiana and Texas. The film represents a first effort by German director Michael Schorr, who says he was inspired in no small part by the American film "About Schmidt." Chicago Sun Times critic Roger Ebert says Schorr displays "the confidence and simplicity of someone who has been making films forever." The film has received numerous awards in Europe, most notably four top prizes at the 2003 Stockholm Film Festival, a San Marco Special Jury Award at the 2003 Venice Film Festival, and the German Film Critics Award for best feature film debut in 2005.

Rated PG.
