Set at a shooting party on an English country estate in the autumn of 1932, this film is
Altman's homage to one of his cinematic heroes, Jean Renoir, and Renoir's film "The
Rules of the Game." Altman interweaves a complex web of stories both upstairs and
downstairs, delivering a period comedy of manners and a murder mystery with far too
many suspects.
The film received an Academy Award for best screenplay and received six other nominations.
Rated R for some language and brief sexuality.
Post-film discussion led by Lex Miller.
