Lake is an adaptation of choreography
originally created for the stage, but always conceived in an outdoor
setting. In this production, an outdoor setting moves
indoors. A woman and a man by the side of a lake, having been
caught in the rain, seem caught at a still-point in their relationship
as well. While he sleeps by the water, she dances out her inner
landscape. Her movement is at once elegiac, sensual, and
discomforting. The camera helps create the visual and emotional
scenario, conceived from the outset as a "filmic" short story.
